Free Them All
The seed quilt idea was developed with leadership from activists and artist collaborators Tewkunzi Green, Moni Cosby, Jonice Robinson, Sandra Brown, Alisha “Lili” Walker, and Erika Ray. This naturally dyed handmade quilt with embedded native flower seeds will be installed outside the women’s prison in Illinois. Over time, the quilt will germinate its seeds and transform into a native flower garden, welcoming home people when they are released from Logan and greeting loved ones coming to visit.
Photos below are from a community event that took place in July 2022. The quilt is still in the making and more events and installation will take place in 2023. Photo credits: Sarah Ji Rhee/ The people’s camera
